I've been listening to everything people have been saying over the past few days, and thought to myself "ya' know, maybe I should try and figure out what the heck is going on here", and so I did. I've done the best I can to read up on everything, including reading
jark's,
spyed'sand most of the other administrative journals that seemed relevant (you know what I mean, they had to actually have something in them about the issue at hand), and I read them, again, as far back as seemed relevant(same def. applies here) and all I could come up with is this:
There dosen't really seem to be anyone taking the middle stance.
I mean sure, a few people are being a third observer trying to offer help from the sidelines, which is great and all, but what we need is someone
truly in the middle postion.
We need someone who can take the point of view of the third observer and do something with it. Not just the people on one side telling the "Truth" or the people on the other side telling their own version of the "Truth" but someone who can take both versions of the "Truth" and make their own.
When you see only one side of a story, you can't decide on what is and isn't the "Truth" (even less so when you don't know all the facts) without hearing the other side of the story.
In this case I'm talking about the side who was (possibly, we don't know everything yet) wronged and is giving evidence to that end, and the side that is trying to look out for the best intrests of this site, only in a completly diffrent area then the other side(Again, only possibly since we
still don't know entirely what's going on.) and is merely trying to defend itself.
Eventually, it just boils down to the FINACIAL vs. the COMMUNITY
and people seem to be taking sides one way or the other, without fully realizing what that means.
If it was just community, the site would die because of an inability to support itself, but, if it was all about finacial gain, then the site would die simply because it wouldn't be fufilling it's intended purpose (creating a community for artists), but rather might as well be another AMAZON.com or eBAY, or whatever else you can think of. We need to realize that the "Truth" is never as simple as it seems, that this site will only work if there is a balance between the FINACIAL and the COMMUNITY, rather then having them against each other, and that if we truely want this site to flourish we
MUST be that third person in the middle of things, bringing balance to this site(and we can only do that if we try, so go participate in the forums, post a comment on someones Deviation, buy a subscription for a worthy artist, and purchase that print you've had you're eye on.).
In the end all I ask is that you realize these three things.
